The Kwikgames team are currently working with FlashGamesClassroom.com to develop the world’s first Flash games development online course. The 16 module course is packed with video tutorials that take you through the entire process, step by step. With each module you’ll receive the full source code to a case study game, and through the videos and interactive learning tools you’ll be shown exactly how it was built, how to modify it, and how to build similar games yourself.
The course, due to be launched this fall, is the culmination of several years research and development. We’re recording the lessons right now, but we still want more user feedback. We want to know what YOU want to see in the course!
So take our short survey and tell us what you want from our Flash Games Classroom course, and in return we’ll put you on our early notification list and give you a discount code for when the course launches in a few weeks!
The first thing you should do if you want to learn Flash games development is to grab a trial copy of Flash. You can grab a free trial from the Adobe site which you can use for 30 days, after which you’ll need to buy a copy. They offer great academic deals if you’re in education too!
Once you have Flash installed check out the resources below!
Note: This is an old book now, dealing with Actionscript 2.0, but it’s so good I still feel it’s one of the bext introductions to Flash games devlopment, especially if you already have some programming experience!
Fantastic book from Macromedia Press. Not only deals with the ‘nuts and bolts’ of games such as colision detection and basic physics but also deals with multiplayer games, hiscores, isometric views, copyright protection… in fact just about everything you wanted to know! The book comes with a CD which includes not only source code for the complete game projects but also a multiplayer server so yo ucan set up your own online games in no time!

Actionscript 3.0 Game Programming University
Another great book on Flash games. This one is easier for the bebinner to get into, breaking everything down into bite sized chunks and has an incredible number of projects ranging from card games and puzzles to arcade blasters. Not such great programming as the Makar book but loads to get started – great for the beginner!
